Itinerary “Festival VODOO” Benin, Togo and Ghana / 14 days

Today depart to Ouidah, with a stopover at Ganvie. A village on stilts spread across Lake Nokoue and inhabited by a population of about 25,000 people. The ancestors of the Tofinu people who now live in this village created the settlement in the 16th century to escape being captured by the Dahomey army to be sold as slaves to the Portuguese. After we continus to Ouidah the spiritual capital of Benin. We go round the city and by chance we could witness voodoo performance. You arrive at hotel and accommodation.

Breakfast, early morning and we go to the voodoo festival place if possible organize traditional ceremony with our local guide. Voodoo is a traditional religion and people in Benin are still attached to this religion so that the 10 th of January is declared voodoo celebration day. You will see voodoo priests and priestesses, voodoo adepts chanting, dancing and worshiping their gods. It’s an event that happens once a year. Meet the local people and visit the fetish market. We start the visit of Lome by its Grand Market and the fetish market of Akodessewa. The first for its animation and the meeting with the local life of Lome, the second for his introduction to the animist and voodoo culture. We go for lunch and after a break we go to visit Kumassi market one of the biggest market in West Africa. Transfer to the hotel ann accommodation.

Arrival and lunch , guided tour of Cape Coast Castle Museum a Museum classified as world heritage with a view to the “Door of No Return” Anyone who had stopped at the door facing the ocean never again see his native land. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel Loreto

This park is officially called the Polo Grounds. It is where the Dr. Kwamé Nkrumah declared Ghana’s independence. You will see various personal items used by Osagyefo, as well as books he has authored several of his personal belongings.
