Itinerary Senegal – Gambia / 9 days

Arrival and welcome by our local team and transfer to the hotel.

After breakfast, we will board the rowboat to reach the island of Gore. Arrival and visit of the house of slaves with its moving history, lunch there then return and departure for Lac Rose, the beach of the arrival, you have the possibility of taking a short ride in 4 × 4 or 6 × 6 truck on the dunes in the evening. Created in 1971 and the third largest bird park in the world, it covers 12,000 hectares in the delta of the Senegal River. Placed in a desert region, the Djoudj basin is the only green spot in this part of the Sahel. It therefore exerts an irresistible attraction on the avifauna of Europe and Africa. From November to March, three million birds meet there to overwinter. Add about twenty species of mammals (warthogs, crocodiles, monkeys, gazelles, monitor lizards …) You have the possibility of going on a canoe excursion with an engine at idle, the canoe easily sinks into the heart of Djoudj. Return back to Saint Louis in evening, arrival and installation in hotel.

After breakfast, departure for Fathala. Stop, visit of the largest cheese maker in the region with its winged foothills and continuation to the forest of FATHALA which already gives us an idea of the tropical vegetation of Casamance (6000 hectares of protected natural forest). Game drive between multiple herds of antelopes such as the dazzling Derby Eland the largest species in the world. You will approach, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hippotragues, smashed cob, forest buffaloes, red colobus and green monkeys clinging to large African cashew trees. Lunch on site and in the afternoon a unique experience walking with lions without leashes and collars. You will walk alongside the majestic kings of the savannah.
