Itinerary Niger GEREWOL / 11 days

Welcome by our local team in Niamey and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight at hotel Univers or Similar

After breakfast, we will visit Niamey, a cultural capital par excellence, the great mosque, the craft center, the Niamey artisan market of Katako the national museum with its craft and zoo area, then lunch in town in the restaurant “pilier”. At 3 p.m., we meet for a beautiful evening on the Niger River which will allow us to encounter hippotamuses with beautiful photo opportunities at sunset and return to the hotel.

Breakfast and departure for Birni Koni, visit some villages on the road, stop in Dosso, visit the sultan’s house and the local market then continue to Konni. Arrival and installation at the hotel in the evening.
Overnight at Auberge or Similar

Breakfast and drive to Yaama. Stop in Yaama village with traditional Mosque is known to have won the Aga Khan Award. Amazing Yaama village of 33 mosques manually made of banko. Visiting most famous mosques and school if it is open. Continue journey through the region of Ader, the region from which Niger’s present president comes from. This region is known for its earthen constructions built in Sudanese style. Halte in the village of Salama where you could meet very interesting african live and take pictures with children and women in their families. Arrival in Tahoua in evening and installation in hotel.
Overnight at hotel Tarka or Similar

After breakfast drive to Agadez, the heart of the Sahara, an ancient caravan city and crossroads of trade routes. We explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town and its magnificent clay architecture. We will visit the 16th century Grand Mosque and its 27-metre minaret, the Sultan’s Palace, the house of German explorer Heinrich Barth and many other interesting sights, including the camel market. If we are lucky, we will also meet the sultan himself in Agadez, then installation in hotel. Overnight at hotel Etoile Tenere or Similar

After breakfast, drive to Gerowol festival via Abalak for the second big place where we assist in the Wodaabe ceremony which is an annual courtship competition among the Wodaabe Fula people. Arrival and we participate to the camel racing at sunset. Overnight under Tent

After Breakfast, place in the Gerewol Festival which is an annual courtship competition among the Wodaabe Fula people. Young men are dressed to impress. They have elaborate outfits on and there are many different examples of traditional face painting. Here, we will stay during 1/5 day with the incredible opportunity to meet and interact with Wodaabé families and spend some time with them before heading back to Abalak. The Bororo (Wodaabé) people are very proud of their environment and where they are from and do not prefer cities and the sedentary life. Arrival and instalation our tent in evening.

Breakfast and drive to Dosso, stop in Birni N’Koni for lunch, visit the village of Salewa on the road with possibility to take pictures with children and women in their families. Lunch on the road and continuation to Dosso, arrival and installation in hotel in evening. Overnight at hotel Toubal or similar

Breakfast drive to Niamey, Stop in koure to visit the last giraffes of west Africa and continuation to Nimey,arrival and lunch in the restaurant cap Banga on the Niger River.

After breakfast, we prepare for the transfer to the airport, a final possible visit to the city for those who wish, departure around 11 a.m. and end of our services.
